Following the launch of the Samsung Application Store, the mobile company is offering $100,000 to developers who can come up with the best app. Not only that, but the winning applications will be uploaded to the app store for 4months from December.
With the expansion of their new App Store, Samsung wants to stimulate application development and organizing this software challenge seemed to be the way forward. The contest will be opened from 16 November until 10 December for I8000 Omnia II applications in either English or Italian. And it’s not just the top runners who’ll benefit, the first two winning apps will be awarded 100,000 US dollars each, and there are also smaller prizes: $10,000, $5,000 and $2,000.
“Samsung hopes this contest will offer many opportunities to application developers,” said Hosoo Lee, Executive Vice President of Samsung’s Media Solution Centre. “We want them to be able to profit from their work, while at the same time giving our consumers a rich variety of applications to customize their phones.” Winners will be able to maintain a continuous partnership with Samsung through a variety of future opportunities, such as participating in the Samsung’s mobile programmer support program.
