Network provider Orange has announced a partnership with social networking site Twitter. The Deal will allow customers to send and receive status updates via text messages. The move will make Orange the first provider to allow users to upload and share photos using MMS.

It has all been done to provide Orange customers with ‘fast and simple access’ to Twitter without the need to download any additional software or pay extras for the service. Twitter alerts will be free and status updates via text will either be included in a bundle or charged at the standard rate.

Orange UK head of product management Mark Watts Jones said, “We’ve seen over the last year how Twitter is transforming the dynamics of real-time search and breaking news. We’re delighted to extend the value to our customers to view and update their Twitter streams and giving them the unique ability to upload photos directly via MMS.”
