Google’s mobile operating system – Android, has received a lot of media attention recently with many manufacturers choosing it to run their big hitters, however, a recent report shows that many people still don’t understand the Android system.

“Consumers recognise the Google brand but still do not understand what Android is”, said IDC Analyst Francisco Jeronimo. The market share of smartphones running Google Android rose by 1.2% between July and September this ear, yet consumers showed little interest towards them. “The lack of devices available didn’t help to raise awareness, though this is expected to change, with more handsets from …vendors hitting the market soon” said Jeronimo.

Meanwhile Symbian continue its reign as the leading Operating System in Western Europe. Controlling 48% of the market.

However, there are concerns that hundreds of people may be wrongly accused, but may end up forking out for the fine.
