Google has upped its game adding some pretty impressive technology to its Android line-up. “Google Goggles” and “What’s Nearby”.

Google Goggles is for those who see something they like, want to search for it but can never find the words to describe it. Basically, users of Android 1.6 or newer can use the camera on their handset to initiate Google Search using images rather than text. The Goggles currently recognise landmarks, works of art and various products. Expanding the image search recognition will be an ongoing task for Google.

The other new addition to the Android devices is the “What’s Nearby” feature for Google Maps. Available as an update from the Android market, the software allows the user to point anywhere on the map and it will bring up a list of the closest points of interest, great for those tourist moments.
