Despite being a bestseller, the Apple iPhone hasn’t helped networks financially. That’s according to a report, published by media consultant Strand Consults. The report found that none of the operators market share, revenue or earnings improved after introducing the handset.
The report states that Apple is using O2 and other operators to improve sales of the iPhone worldwide. The report claims relations could soon break down, as operators realise just how little they are getting in return.
The report ‘The Moment of Truth – a portrait of the iPhone’ collected information from more than 100 operators across the world, to find out if the iPhone was of any benefit to operators. The verdict… it wasn’t.
The report also decided that iPhone customers are ‘very loyal’ towards Apple, but would happily switch networks to get better iPhone deals. The report recommends both Apple and the networks do something to improve business relations before either side lose out.
