A new mobile application to help you search the web is being revealed later this month. The app, likely to debut on the iphone, isn’t like your ordinary search engine, far from it. Instead of typing you search word, you can hunt for your item using voice, facial, location and image recognition technologies.

The company’s set to show off its latest technology sometime in September. “With GetFugu, you can take a photo of a logo on your sneaker, or a store window, and it’ll take you wherever the company wants you to go, whether it’s to its website or to a coupon,” said Rich Jenkins, the company’s co-founder.  ”Or you can access the brand by voice, saying ‘Coca Cola,’ and it’ll take you right there.

It’s not too dissimilar to other mobile apps that recognise input from users, such as images voice prompts and facial recognition, but where the Getfungu takes the lead is that unlike its competitors, it will cover all available input methods. The company also want to push their technology on as many devices as possible, and hope to develop their mobile facial recognition to allow users to search a person’s web identity by looking at them through the camera. This is social networking on another level.
