After receiving approval from Apple’s application store, iPhone users can access Spotify from their mobiles. Now, Sony Ericsson wants to join in. Speaking at the launch of Sony Ericsson’s major marketing campaign last week, head of marketing, Lennard Hoornik hinted at the possibility of a deal with the music streaming service.
Hoornik said Sony Ericsson wanted to increase its entertainment facilities to become ‘a truly open brand’, allowing its customers to access a range of services, including unlimited music access. According to Hoornik, the company wants ‘to become the Communication Entertainment brand’. Sony has already started its mission through the rebranding of all Sony and Sony Ericsson products with the tag ‘make.believe’.
The make.believe brand is designed to create ‘a community you want to belong to.’ With this in mind Sony Ericsson and Sony are pooling resources together to develop new software applications that everyone will want on their mobile phone.
