T Moblie looks set to open up the previously expensive smartphone market to the lower end of the mobile market. Installing the Android system on pay-as-you-go handsets. With more challengers at the iPhones heel, Google will be grateful for the boost from T Mobile.


The phones will come complete with 3.5-inch touchscreen, 3.2 mega-pixel camera and GPS, along with the standard Smartphone access to the Android Marketplace, Google’s equivelant to Apples’s application store.


Unlimited online access will cost users just £5 a month, the handset however, will set you back £180. A pay monthly contract will still be available, although the price is yet to be decided.


This will be the fourth Android powered handset in the UK, although Google claim they’ll have 18 Android compatible phones out by the end of the year. But T Mobiles first offering is the first aimed at the larger market for affordable mobile phone, Richard Warmsley, head of internet and entertainment at T Mobile, has described the move as “an exciting global platform for the next few years”
