The latest Changewave survey results have hinted at a substantial shift in the mobile market in 2010. Findings showed that while the Apple iPhone was still the most sought after handset, Android devices are snapping at their heels.

The company asked current and potential smartphone buyers what device they would like. 21% said Android, that’s 15% more than this time last year and 28% chose the iPhone, 4% less than this period in 2009.

When looking into customer satisfaction with a particular handset, 77% of participants were ‘very satisfied’ with their iPhone against 72% of Android users. So is this a preview of what is to come in 2010, do Apple need to re-think their mobile phone strategy or is the smartphone darling safe for a while yet?
