If your existing number is important to you and you would like to transfer ('Port') it to your new mobile phone and network provider, the following is a clear guide to make this a stress-free process.
As long as you've fulfilled your contractual obligations (usually a 12 month contract) to your existing Network or Service Provider then you can port your existing number to a different Network.
With a pay monthly mobile phone you can ask for your Porting Authorisation Code (' PAC') from your current Network or Service Provider. The code is normally made up of three letters and six numbers and some Networks charge a small administration fee.

- Request your PAC number from your existing Network
- Make a note of this PAC number
- Select the handset and Network tariff and place your order
- Once you have passed your security and credit check you will be sent your new phone which will include instructions of how to connect your phone
- Once connected, you will be given a temporary mobile number
- You must then contact your new Network or Service Provider quoting; your temporary number, the number you wish to Port and this number’s PAC
- Your existing number will then be transferred within 5-7 working days
- Your temporary number will continue to work on your new handset until after your existing number has been successfully transferred
- The following is a list of contact details for Orange:

- Request your PAC number from your existing Network or Service Provider
- Take this PAC with you when you go into store
- Once you have selected the handset and network tariff, inform the member of staff that you wish to port your number and give them your PAC
- The member of staff will use this PAC number when processing your sale and will inform your new Network that you wish to Port your number and provide them with your PAC number
- Porting your number will take approximately 5-7 working days. Your network should inform you once the transfer has been completed.

Do not cancel your existing contract as disconnected numbers cannot subsequently be transferred. By providing your PAC number to your new chosen network this will initiate the cancellation process with your current network.
To port your number there may be a small administration charge from your current network and we advise you to check this one out first.
